Elemental

The word crept out like a Small Child,
Hiding where he shouldn’t have been.
Redundancy,
The Short, Sharp Shock,
And the Elemental
Need to Breathe.

The phrase danced around,
Like glow-worms in a sky,
Robbed of the Moon.
The path that we tread,
Where the heart betrays the head.

Every dark night of the soul,
Every moment of joy,
And every day,
A Soap Opera of stories,
Needing to be told.

Two years of A Levels,
And all you get is a bad score,
For a Scrabble board.
All the qualifications lead
To a dead-end,
Where you spent years
Becoming that which you most feared.

So, now I wait in a room,
With 20 different exits,
And no idea of where
To place my next step.

Harry the Bird-man

Yeah, Mate,

I can Whistle,
I was only asking nicely,
Not for a mouthful of abuse.

Yeah, I am young,
But don’t blame my Mother,
She has done nothing wrong.

No, you don’t believe me?
Well, I don’t believe in you,
Or God, or much else,
For that matter.

You say I walk like a Pigeon?
With my nodding head,
And my puffed out chest?
I’ve got places to be mate,
I can’t stand around arguing.

You say my hairs like a Rooster’s?
At least I still have hair.
Your’s has left your head,
And is planning an escape route,
Through your ears and your nose.

Yeah, you know,
Say what you like, Mate?
Yeah, you drive a big car,
Are you trying to compensate for something?

I would love the arrogance,
To be as judgemental as you,
But you know,
That only comes with age.

Yeah, you say I will regret talking to you like this?
I only regret not burning enough ants
With my magnifying glass.
And missing the last train.

Can you come and pick me up, Dad?
