Age to Regret

Word Count: 108
Summary: A reflection of the fear of getting old

Age to Regret

An old man cradling his life in arms
Carrying the wounds of time

Each wrinkle tracing a youthful wish
Now lost to the ravages of age
With each gradually weakening step
The heart is imbued with sentimental regret
A porcelain cocoon encases his juvenile vigour
Entrapping his spirit to a remorseful fate
Realising he overlooked the miracle far too late
Ruefully his body is now a pitiful state
And childhood dreams are beyond his means
Still standing at the station waiting for his train
Life past through his hands like trickling rain

An old man cradling his life in arms
Carrying the wounds of time
