Word Count: 68
Summary: When she was a kitten she could catch rabbits bigger than herself.

There is a piece
of night that stalks the day
silent as a dream scream
moving blades of grass away.

Soft darkness pounces.
Sharp claws, red jaws
clamp tight around the prey
half lifeless
victim to its nightmare’s play.

And in the depth of night
upon my bed
a piece of night purrs peacefully.
Amid dark silky fur
two spots of grass shine out as clear as day.
