AUTUMN LOVE

As the nights get darker
My love for you seems brighter
Like the spark that lights a bonfire
That burns hot and wild
Until it’s the only thing you can see
Against black November skies
It warms you, making you cosy
And when I kiss you
It feels like the climax of a firework
I feel dizzy with the chemistry
In awe of the beauty it creates
Only it doesn’t fizzle out, it grows
When I wake in the cold mornings
The sight of blue skies and golden leaves
Makes me miss you more
As I imagine us walking hand in hand
Crunching the leaves beneath our feet
Being in love in another beautiful season
Of our first year together
You came to me in spring
An appropriate season for love to begin
When the sun gets warmer
The flowers start to grow again
The may blossom falls like confetti
I imagine winter by your side
Festive love by a fireside
It may be a fantasy now
But it won’t be forever my love
