Who's Afaid of the Wolf?

It was warm as Little Red Riding Hood skipped through the woods on her way to visit grandma. She stopped for a minute, took off her cape and draped it over her basket. Just then, Mr Wolf came by. Fancying a tit-bit he too stopped, planning to devour the little girl.

'Good morning ,Mr Wolf,' said Little Red Riding Hood. Tossing back her pretty, blonde curls she took a step nearer Mr Wolf. 'Can I tempt you with some of my goodies?'

Mr Wolf could hardly believe his luck at coming across such a delectable little dish. He licked his lips with relish.

Little Red Riding Hood fluttered her long lashes. 'I bet you'd like to sink your teeth into a ripe young cherry.'

Mr Wolf gasped. Taken back by her precocious nature he became lost for words.

'How about some breast?' Little Red Riding Hood went on as she licked her lips. 'They're very small and white, but very tender.'

Mr Wolf was horrified.

Little Red Riding Hood widened her blue eyes. 'Surely, if I show you what I have under my cape you cannnot refuse?'

Mr Wolf looked at Little Red Riding Hood with disdain. Suddenly the thought of eating this unsavoury little thing left a bitter aftertaste. He politely made his excuses and left. It just wouldn't do for him to have that sort of a reputation. And what if she cried, 'Wolf?' He heaved a sigh of relief as the edge of the wood came into view and vowed to stay away from little girls no matter how delicious they looked.

That night Little Red Riding Hood told her grandma about her generous offer to Mr Wolf.

'Well, there's a silly fellow,' said grandma upon hearing the wolf's refusal. She eyed her pretty granddaughter and smiled. 'He surely doesn't know what he is missing.'

'He really doesn't,' Little Red Riding Hood said and she sat down to eat the Chicken Alexandra followed by cherry pie.
