The sentiments of a poem are so rarely read
In itself it throws away all that was said
What needs to be done is to capture a thought
About what needs to be real and not what we think should be caught
Like a whisper of life of some forgotten pain
Or the dream of reality without merit or gain
I wish I knew who I really want to be
Not whats expected, not what's really me
To smile without meaning is to laugh without hope
To live without understanding is to but barely cope
We are what we eat, we are what we read
I have no wish to be part of this nefarious breed
Just what I feel and who I am is just a day
That I spend with myself and sadly come what may
Why should life be anothers decision for me
All I really desire is a longing to be free
Of all thats untrue that I dont want to confess
That someones more is sadly someone's less
Who touches a soul more than a god we dont know
Why embrace a river yet stifle its flow
Scared of a truth we hide our own eyes
Maybe blindness is better than accepting the lies.
