Summary: A new poem, just wondered what thoughts you might have about it.

Strangers

How many years have passed
since that day
when our eyes met
across a room?
Strangers - yet
it felt as though
I'd always known
the line of your chin,
the curve of your cheek.
You carried me along
with romantic gestures -
flowers,
moonlit evenings by the river
watching the stars,
giving them names.
Strangers - learning
each others ways.
Years tumbled by:
marriage, babies,
schooldays, a house move.
New neighbours,
strangers - living
different lives to the one we knew.
I look at you now:
the line of your chin,
the curve of your cheek.
You carry me along
with new found ideas -
that leave me cold
and feeling old.
Strangers - once more.
