J P Henderson-Long began to write at seven years of age but was a story-teller long before that. By the time she was twelve, she had already published a number of letters and book reviews. Her first mainstream article was published when she was 16.
Over the years she has enjoyed a lot of success, having had work appear in magazines, local and national newspapers, anthologies, annuals and various small press publications. Her first children's book was published in 2007 with two sequels commissioned, both of which are due to be published by the end of 2009.
Other successes include being intereviewed on cable TV, and local radio, profiled in a local paper and the Writer's News, a number of awards and some "small-town" success with self-publishing. She has been a creative writing tutor for the London Boroughs of Bromley and Merton, and has successfully run Creative Writing workshops for 7 - 9 year olds in conjunction with local libraries.
She has done a number of talks at writing groups and has made several appearances as "Guest Poet" at local schools, where she loves 'taking poetry to the children'. She is a member of The Society of Authors and The Poetry Society.
Her hobbies include photography, collecting teddies and getting out and about with husband Steve.
