Jillian Henderson-Long

J P Henderson-Long began to write at seven years of age but was a story-teller long before that. By the time she was twelve, she had already published a number of letters and book reviews. Her first mainstream article was published when she was 16.

Over the years she has enjoyed a lot of success, having had work appear in magazines, local and national newspapers, anthologies, annuals and various small press publications. Her first children's book - Yucketypoo, The Monster That Grew and Grew - was published in 2007 and the first of two sequels - Yucketypoo Slimes Again - was published in 2009. She is currently re-drafting the third and final one in the series. She is also working on a local interest book for her home town and continues to publish poetry in various publications.

Other successes include being intereviewed on cable TV, and local radio, profiled in local papers and the Writer's News, a number of awards and some "small-town" success with self-publishing. She has been a creative writing tutor for the London Boroughs of Bromley and Merton, and has successfully run Creative Writing workshops for 7 - 9 year olds in conjunction with local libraries.

She has done a number of talks at writing groups and has made several appearances as "Guest Poet" at local schools. She is very proud to be a member of The Society of Authors.

Her hobbies include photography, collecting teddies and getting out and about with husband Steve.
