Big new Arts Council grants for writers
There will be a major new investment programme from February 2003 which will benefit writers, among other artists. For the first time, individual writers will be able to apply for significant amounts of funding instead of having to be attached or already commissioned by an organisation.
Grants of between £200- £100,000 will be made available to individual artists, residencies, bursaries, arts projects led by writers, and research and development by individuals. Most grants are likely to be under £30,000.
Partnership funding will not be a requirement, although the Arts Council say they will encourage applicants to use their ACE investment to lever more money from other sources.
Application packs will be made available from mid February and info will also be on the web at that time. There will be no deadlines, and applications can be made at any time from 1 April 2003.
Decisions for applications under £5000 will be made within 6 weeks. For amounts over £5000, that timescale will double.
