New Penguin imprint; Fig Tree

There's a new Penguin imprint about to get going; called Fig Tree Press, it will be run by forming Viking publisher Juliet Annan. She is seeking literary books with commercial appeal- 'fresh, distinct, well written, clever, entertaining and sometimes funny.' The press will launch next February (2006) with a new Helen Dunmore novel. Leading Viking authors who have defected include Zoe Heller, India Knight, Tim Lott and Patrick Neate.
