The Script Factory Masterclass: HEARTLANDS (12A)
Preview screening followed by an onstage interview with the creative team at the Odeon Covent Garden, Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1

Another bullseye from East is East director Damien O' Donnell, Heartlands is a fabulously uplifting road movie about lost love, dodgy scooters and Eric Bristow...

Colin is a gentle man. A gentle man with simple needs. He married Sandra, his childhood sweetheart, lives a quiet life in the same Midlands town, and plays darts every night. But Colin's simple existence is torn apart when the
missus ups sticks and runs off with Geoff, the captain of Colin's darts team who whisks her off to Blackpool for a darts championship. Refusing to admit defeat, broken-hearted Colin climbs on to his trusty moped and sets out in
hot pursuit intent on winning Sandra back - but he gets a little more than he bargained for on the journey...

In this ensemble masterclass, Richard Jobson who penned the original story and produced, Paul Fraser who fashioned it into a screenplay, join director Damien O'Donnell on stage following this preview screening, to talk about their own journey to bring Heartlands to life.

THE SCRIPT FACTORY MASTERCLASS WITH ALAN PARKER
The Orange Word Stage, Hay Festival, Oxford Road, Hay on Wye

Alan Parker is something of a national treasure, knighted in 2001 in recognition of a career that has resulted in movies ranging from joyful musical ensembles to social and political engagement, as well as touching on the darker corners of poverty, ignorance and incarceration. His credits include Bugsy Malone, Midnight Express, Fame, The Commitments, Mississipi Burning, Birdy, Angel Heart, Evita, Angela's Ashes, Shoot The Moon and most recently The Life of David Gale - all this and he finds time to chair the Film Council and make a direct impact on the UK film industry. In this first Script Factory Masterclass at the Hay Literary Festival, Alan will be on stage with Tanya Seghatchian, interviewer and co-producer of the Harry
Potter franchise, in a lively conversation about the themes which preoccupy his apparently diverse collection of films.
