Tania Hershman flashes all week on BBC R4

Tania Hershman, WW tutor and member Titania, says;

'Next week, BBC Radio 4 will be broadcasting a whole week of my flash stories on the Afternoon Reading! Because the stories are so short, there will be 5 or 6 per day in the 15-minute slot which has up til now only ever broadcast a single story. So: 16 stories in total, on Tuesday June 29th, Wednesday June 30th and Thursday July 1st, first broadcast at 3.30pm UK time and then available online as Listen Again programmes for 7 days afterwards. The week is aptly titled "Flash!" - 5 of which are from The White Road and Other Stories, and the rest are newer flashes.'

Get Involved in National Short Story Week

If you write short stories then you'll want to get involved in the UK's first National Short Story Week (NSSW), which will be from 22nd - 28th November. It may seem some time off, but now is the time to get thinking about how you can celebrate NSSW, and use it to promote your writing.

NSSW is a grass roots event and it will enable individuals and groups to organise their own events on a national, regional or local level. Why not contact your local bookshop or library and offer to give a reading or a talk for National Short Story Week? Perhaps your local newspaper or radio station would be interested in doing an item about your short stories to mark NSSW. Don't forget hospital and community radio too. Are there other short story writers in your area that you could link up with to hold an event?

A website is already up and running and more content will be added over the next few months, including a national events calendar.
