War is always war

rich killing the poor
poor killing the poor

our leaders bravely
view a latest atrocity

from behind barbed
hard-wired cold hearts

inside their skin of tanks
oil still flows between them

black veins supplying gold
set in ruby soaked Palestine

the richest men on earth
watching poor killing poor

how proud they are
of our willingness to die

for their petty wealth
for their way of life

after all the bombs
have gone safely off

they light cigars, drink cognac
and prepare new breaking laws

heaven cannot hold enough martyrs
to make any difference to these men

the rich always betray the poor
by setting poor to killing poor

war is always war.

Anger is what is needed here - words like 'savage' and 'mindless' are being bandied about as always, when, of course, the reasons why this happened are manifold and obvious. Brave to write in this fashion so soon, but, these things must be said.
Best,

Mike

Seems like poetry is the best medium to write about this and you do it admirably.

One thing did not make sense to me. 'and prepare new breaking laws' should this be 'prepare to break new laws' or 'prepare to make law breaking laws'?

Brian.

Think this is very powerful & apt. Esp the drinking of cognac & smoking of cigars. In comfort in Gleneagles.
