Hi Phll, I love the feel of this haiku. I like the contrast of growth and the dying leaves; the first two lines sound like it should be Spring.

Mmm. It has a great feeling of optimism.

'feelings wake in fertile hearts' - even in the autumn there is fertility and growth, for those whose hearts are open.

This speaks volumes. I really like the contrast between the old and the new, as well. I love autumn and this captures the mood brilliantly.
