The 25th hour

The 25th hour passes all to quick
The clock is merely mocking me with its song of “tick, tock, tick”
Stare at the hands with the hope of speeding time
It slows, so personal, but not mine
My eyes wont shut my muscles ache
It’s the secret 25th hour I'm still awake

All has fallen quiet I shed a tired tear
Soon all will stir and I will still be here
The walls seem restless the ceiling glares at me
The darkness means nothing now I can always see
Why can’t I escape? Break free of its power?
Never to sleep again, a slave of the 25th hour

A succinct piece. Noone can be foreign to this.

Look forward to reading more.

This took me back to the aftermath of my failed first marriage; coming to understand what they meant by the "watches of the night" - and how long a day can be.
