MAMMAL IN THE THAMES
(adapted from 'Candle In The Wind' by Elton John)
BY MARTIN BAUM

Goodbye Moby Dick
Out of breath and out of luck
You swam the Thames and got yourself
Beached and really stuck

And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a mammal in the Thames
Never knowing where to swim to
When the tide went out

And I would have liked to know you
But you were just a fish
Who’ll end up as a tasty treat
On someone’s supper dish

END

Very good, Martin. Elton should look to his laurels! Are you going to sing it at the memorial service?

I'd love to but unforunately I've got something a lot less interesting to do that day.

I'm pleased you enjoyed it.

Well it made me smile. Funny how well mammal in the Thames maps ot Candle in the Wind - even all of Elton's funny little pauses. Nice one.

All th ebest,

Ben

Thank you for your kind words of comfort. I shall pass them to next of kin at the chip shop.
