There are things in life you will always want
that you can never have,
but everyone around you seems to have them.
It's ok though,
you'll forget sometimes
and that will have to be good enough.

Hi Stephen - I'll probably come back to this and say more about it, but I've just this minute read it and like it very much. From your note at the top I know it's a personal statement, but I imagine very many people relating to it and putting their own interpretations on it. It's very simple, but has many possibilities of meaning. One of those poems I sometimes describe as 'a skeleton key that opens many doors'.

It speaks to a certain mood, a certain state of mind in which we feel that to 'forget sometimes' is the best we can hope for. That's a little sad, maybe a little negative - but also very recognisable and genuine.

'...and that will have to be good enough' - I know what you mean, and I bet I'm not the only one in WW who does.

James.

I can't really add anything to James' comment - this is a poems that stands up for itself!
"You'll forget sometimes" is a great line, which is understated and powerful.

Thanks for commenting.

I was worried this would seem a bit vague, personal and maybe over depressing. But it looks like I've captured some interesting mindsets.

Hi Stephen. You have written 'Living with disability' in your summary, but I think this is relevant to all sorts of situations. Oh dear, I just realised that James has said exactly that but much more eloquently than I did.

Thought-provoking.
