An Cynic’s View Of Global Warming

If water expands by a full ten percent
when it freezes from liquid to ice,
why should its melting again then present
a fear that the oceans will rise?

An iceberg is ninety percent under sea,
so the space that it currently uses
should be just big enough for the bit up above -
and to claim otherwise just confuses.

Cos, when the ice melts, won’t the hole it produces
be bigger than what’s then required?
And the water that’s left when its volume reduces
should easily all fit inside!

I also suspect that ‘The Greenhouse Effect’
should cause us far less of a worry
than necking eight pints of strong Kronenbourg
followed up with a hot Ruby Murray

Global Warming you see has mirrored the rise
of the Indian food take-aways
and has far less to do with rogue CO2
than the lager and curry night craze

It isn’t emissions from our clapped out cars
That we should be worried about
But the methane gasses that come from the arse
Of the Saturday night lager lout

I love it! I really like your humour and your lyrical reasoning about the space the ice takes up.

Nice attempt to steal the global warming issue. Largerlout methane though when compared to that of the four cows we each will eat in out life time (I watched the Human Footprint last night)!

I like the half rhymes - they go with the half truths!

P.S. Your melting ice theory - add to it the latent heat of fusion; does that mean global warming will be worsened by ice melting or the other way round?

Ruby Murray is with an 'A' I believe but apart from that I am convinced you're right.
