Happy Pills

Garish green,
smile in a capsule,
a numbing of angst so long
held in strong fists.
Stirred echoes of joy,
long long past.
Defrosting my laughter,
releasing warm mists.

Is it real
or imagined,
this heady warm fog?
Do I truly fly, up
up above all that pain?
Can 1 tiny pill restore my soul,
make it sing
oh-so sweetly once again?

Temporarily maybe but, ultimately, better to be high on life.

'Defrosting my laughter'... lovely.

Hey Walrus - you're right of course. Bit of a double-edged one this - obviously there's your recreational pills on the one hand, and then there's my more permanent comfort blanket Prozac...not sure which is more able to keep me ( relatively ) sane...!

Glad you liked it.

I am sorry, but I couldn't resist equating warm mist with ex-lax. Sorry, there, I said it.

It is a good poem, although obviously, not all that is green comes from the garden of Eden - does this?

Go to bed Fearless! Get some sleep...ex-lax indeed! Wouldn't fancy sharing your bathroom...

Hi Bobo, enjoyed this, especially the defrosted laughter. You've written loads of great stuff, just trying to make my way through it all!
