A little thread thats all it takes

A golden thread to a robe of gold

A thread of light to give you hope

Hold the thread dont let it go

I'll hold mine I'll not let it go

But promise me you''ll hold tight

Remember I am always by your side

Through thick and thin yes my child

Now always ask and i'll reply

A hand to hold i'll make you smile

Now place your hand to your side

I'll reach out and hold it tight

Remember you are not alone

You have many by your side

Now please have faith and give a smile

That's all I ask to see you smile

Hi Beth,
I wish I could make some useful comments for you, but I don't write poetry myself, and don't feel confident that I understand it enough. From a short story writer's point of view, I could say that I noticed the many repeated words and as I'm always aware of word limitation in short fiction, I try to repeat as few words as possible. This might be completely different in poetry.
As an ordinary reader, I didn't understand the context of the poem and what was happening in it. Have you thought of putting it on the poetry group?
Becca.
