Ruth and Matthew

My job is done
my task complete
my soul is calm
my heart replete

Beyond my love
Matt you have grown
all I have
is safely sown

Ruth you are woman
all that you should be
you are yourself
transcending me

You are both my joy
the best of me
wise man from boy
a woman proud and free

Hi Zettel. Your son and daughter? This is a lovely poem for them (if my assumption is correct) and I could quite easily substitute 'Andrew and Jane'.

transcending me
is beautiful.

Enjoyed!

What's poetry all about? Giving form to our feelings and thoughts. And that's exactly what you've done here. It's like building something - assembling your feelings about your son and daughter into a structure, fixing these thoughts, putting them in a form that will last. I wonder if you would want to make two copies in a suitable font on high quality paper, and frame them as gifts?

James.

Thanks Joannie and James.

All my poems are I guess personal in a sense but trying to distil something about those closest to you (yes J son and daughter) has the effect of imposing the need for an absolute simplicity and directness that my more complex poems may lack.

Good thought James - in hand. I am also building up 2 hand-written books of all my poems with Upon A LIfting Breeze on page 1.

thanks both

Z
