The most gentle trickle
flowing sweetly
over pebbles
cuddled up under
sheltered rocks,
playfully teasing
the river banks

has the power
to

destroy

an entire neighbourhood.

Joanie! You're here! It was you who won and then you weren't about so I set one. Do you want to judge this week? It's your turn. Inni might be back in with a poem. Don't know where Elsie is. Robin's going on holiday.

I liked this. Very relevant to Morpeth where I live...but we're not flooded thank heaven.

Gosh, Oonah! That was quick! Oooh, it's getting complicated - I do think you should judge this one. I can set a new one at the weekend. I'm glad you weren't flooded! It must be just awful.

I very much liked the way you spaced the last three lines to stress the horror of the power of destruction. Your theme is the same as mine! I guess all the flooding and masses of water are pretty prominent in all of our minds right now!

But to set one next week I'd have to pick you as the winner - which is a bit of a cheat of you think about it but just about the best scam I've heard of Tell you what - why don't we let Nella judge. She's going to be away so she can't win anyway. Perfect solution...

I'll do it, Joanie. Judge, that is.

Many thanks, Robin, for your response.

That's great - you judge and we'll take it from there!

Hi Joannie,

very topical. I too liked the way the stream meandered and then your words spread out like a flood itself.

Cheers

Mark
