nothing begets nothing; self-effacing, self-negating.

the unheard, unheeded, unyielding sound of silence.
the ignored footfall, the approaching step on the stair.
the blank stare into the black abyss,
the blinding dark from the precipice.

the vacant vacuous void of the darkness beyond.
the insipid tolling of time, the shadow of tomb.
the white light dies, death of the morning,
the black light breeds the final dawning.

the futile, fecund fuck, the impotent final fling.
the post-coital spasm, the rigor mortis of life.
the siren's stare from the dark abyss,
the final fall from the precipice.

nothing begets nothing; self-effacing, self-negating.

glassy-eyed, we avert our glare,
watching the sunset slowly sink,
smiling as if we didn't care.

black firmament,
immutable silence:

nothing begets nothing.

A dark piece, that gives a real sense of foreboding. I really enjoyed the language. Your use of the three part list, ie unheard unheeded, unyielding, is very strong, and gives a flow to the structure. The same can be said of the use of alliteration. They do say write about what you know, and I get the sense that you have shared some of this as an experience. If not, then you have a real perception of despair.

My god! I am glad I found purgatory in all its glory. Very unsettling.
The utter hopelessness is so vivid. You haven't just captured the darkest tones of depression and despair but have created an internalised intellectual musing; a soliloquy full of contempt and irony; what a great line "the futile fecund fuck, the impotent final fling".
Its a disturbing tumble into the abyss.
A teetering on the edge of madness. Great stuff Adam!
