The crumbs were quite delicious,
and wild bird seed very nice.
It’s so helpful having ready meals,
not berries stiff with ice.
We’re not so keen on bacon rind
but we loved those balls of fat.
Just one thing, if you wouldn’t mind;
could you waste that flaming cat?

Haha. This is great - it really made me laugh - and wonderful rhymes. especially that last line. I especially like the idea of breadcrumbs as ready meals!

Thanks. It's a heartfelt plea actually as we're plagued by the attentions of a black cat called Logan who is stalking our bird table and managed to collar one hapless victim at the weekend, judging by the feathers and bone that he left.

It's a real problem when you love both birds and cats. I chase Logan with a soft mop, but he's undeterred. I think he knows I wouldn't do anything except prod him with the woolly end if I caught him!

Ah interesting to hear the background to this - yes, that's a dilemma alright. I have two cats, but they are more likely to start paying with the mop than chasing birds - they are more like a couple of glove puppets. There is nothing more determined than a hunting cat - Logan sounds like one of these! How they love to wreak violence. When I was a kid we used to have a hunter cat and kept her in when we fed the birds, much to her disgust and torment. She would get herself into a frenzy at the window looking at all the birds having the temerity to hop over her garden. But god kows what you do about a neighbour's cat. They never listen when they are on the hunt, that's for sure!
