Slade try their hardest to drive me insane -
So Here It Is - Merry Christmas,
again and again.
Noddy's rough vocals resound in my head -
cast adrift in M&S,
I so wish he were dead.
But then Bing, he starts up -
A White Christmas, his dream.
How I long for this CD to run out of steam!
He is late, Mr Crosby,
and yet still he warbles
amidst the naff tinsel and shiny gold baubles.
'SHUT THE FUCK UP!'
a fellow shopper proclaims,
brandishing a hand-gun
he deftly takes aim.
The quivering masses look on horrified -
will their season of good-will be cruelly denied?
The gunman is focused,
music system in his sights,
just one tender squeeze,
and at last, silent night.

Good one, but what would you do to Johnny Mathis and 'When a Child is Born'?

Bravo! I AM that gunman! This has DEEP personal resonance for me, I have had a long-running feud with the execrable, inescapable, inexcusable Slade song! Every year, I try to see just how close I can get to xmas without being assailed by this inanity: I once made it to the 17th of December, but that took exceptional precautions. This year I had been aurally raped by this monstrosity by the November 12.

So bravo again, for daring to face down what is surely the indestructible 'Terminator' of wretched pop songs!

Best

Tim

Re Fearless's query: I propose Azkaban and the company of Dementors, at least... :-)

Fearless - I'd get in serious trouble from the NSPCC for shoving said child up a Johnny Mathis orifice ( is he dead? No matter... ). Tim - I ventured out for the first time yesterday into the hellish hinterland of the high street and was assaulted from all angles by Noddy - sodding - Holder et al. A traumatic experience which drove me to seek out alcohol...this is my little bit of catharsis as I nurse my hangover!

Dare I say 'So much for the Christmas spirit!'

Now, if it had been Sir Cliff's Mistletoe and something.. you had been talking about, I'd be right behind you!

But, nevertheless, A Happy One, to you and yours (and to any one else who happens to read this.)

John - I'm actually a huge fan of Crimbo and am a big kid who enters into the Xmas spirit like a thing possessed...it's just that every time I venture out I hear the same bloody songs and it's beginning to feel like Grounhog Day!

Sparkly festive wishes!
