I would run away,
but I got no place to go.
Live on a beach,
or maybe in a cave.
Eating bats,
sleeping on the sand.
But of these things,
I know nothing.
So where would I go?

I would kill myself,
but I don't know how.
I ain't got a knife,
and no hose for the car.
Got no pills,
and I can't tie a noose.

Some of these things,
I'd probably do.
If I knew how,
or bothered to learn.
Maybe?

Sparrow - a powerful straight-talking poem. We all look to alternative lives / ways of being / ways of not being - when the here and the now is what we should truly focus on.

BoBo X

Ps should it be ' or bothered TO learn'?

Thanks BoBo, corrected it now.
I was a bit drunk when I wrote this so I wasn't sure if it worked. That probably explains the deranged title too.

Keep on drinking brother, if it stimulates you to write like this.

Yeah, stick with the booze and see where it takes you, dude.

Probably to the toilet.

ps- great title. If all poems had titles as good as this, then poetry would be the new rock n roll. No- having sex with poets would be the new rock n roll.

Hang on - as poets we should be prostituting ourselves, via our lyrics, in some hostelry...what's stopping us, apart from puke stains on our garments and B.O.?
