A sound pierced the night air,
breaking the silence all around.
Screaming out loud
was such a fright.

I staggered to the window,
nothing was there
not even a mouse
all went quiet.

The scream came again
i rushed to the door,
tripped over a bear
that laid on the floor.

rushed to the bedroom
there on the bed,
little boy lost
scratching his head.

"Nannan,i saw a ghost"he sobbed.
"Wasn't a ghost only the dog."

I climbed into bed
holding him close.
Tears flowing as his eyes closed.
Held his head against my breast,
tiny snores told me he was at rest.

Hush little baby don't say a word.
Sleep tight
all is well.

A reassuring piece, in terms of love, comfort, and the fact that when one runs to answer the cries of an infant, we are all destined to trip over something.
