Hope
I lay huddled on my bed
My life had just come apart
I saw its shattered splinters in disarray
The joy that was once mine before
Now a splattered mess mingling with the mire
To be replaced by a pain so searing
That I could only but hold my breath
As hours ticked by and time stood still
And still I remained thus
Huddled in my bed

Then out of the depths of my soul
Like a mighty warrior my spirit breaks through
Like the rising sun from the east
To carry me through the noisome bleak
Like a brazen wench
She calls to me through to the light
And gathers the splinters of my broken life
Wiping the tear drops from my eyes
Renewing strength and hope into my heart
Spurring me on to face the bright and new day
Up! And standing straight!
