Afraid of the dark?

You can't keep track
of my mind's
maudlin meanderings -
hither and thither,
turning,
twisting,
cavorting
with the lurid charisma of darkness.

Drip-fed drugs
offer scant reprieve
for either of us;
greyness,
all-consuming,
is devoid of personality
and charm.

This contortion you see -
is it me?
Is it what you'd like me to be?
In your ideal world
would you wish your child born grey?

This is a really emotive piece, very well done, it gets through to the reader (i.e. me) and makes them feel. It is always a good thing to be able to make someone feel, regardless what.
Thanks + well done [again]

Reminded me of Shaffer's play 'Equus' - i.e. similar idea explored...A psychiatrist wonders wether he actually found his patient more colourful, more passionate when he was 'insane' and questions his profession...
Also reminded me of an incident recently where my Mum went to see some of my sister's art work at an exhibition and came away disturbed. 'Do you think she's suicidal?'...well, no I didn't - just exploring darker things and I think that's something that artists do have a tendency to do ;-)
Sense of parental expectations and sense of wanting to be accepted dark side and light... I like the challenge at the end...

Grey, like beige offers no challenge, no mystery. Without that, is there even an incentive to continue? Good writing.

Rai/Nicola/Fearless - thanks for commenting. Unfortunately, many would much rather the world was a sea of greyness rather than colourful and diverse...much 'easier' that way. Utter bollocks obviously, but I guess 'safer', whatever that's worth.
