Sloth

Word Count: 69
Summary: Sloth is not a sin of doing something bad - rather a sin of not doing something. Sloth is a sin of omitting responsibilities. Sometimes feels like God has retired and left us to it.

Sloth

Omnipotence shrugged
like an unwelcome embrace.
With a sigh
sticky with grief,
God creeps out the back.

Drown in your own mess,
Heaven has ceased trading.

He will not return
for the sirens
or the children;
the homeless
the hopeless.

but

Earth cannot bear chaos.
She mends.
disinfects what was
abandoned with
Volcano, Tsunami.
She shudders and
the world cracks open
to kill the pain
and renew.

I think you may be right. He's certainly not doing much these days! indecision He's away hanging upside down in the tree of life by his toes.

A poignant piece Jo, like the touch of inaction being the sin, a concept that is sadly timeless. Some striking lines here.
