Take Five–7–7

by Mickey

Word Count: 31
Summary: It’s not a Mondo but at least the syllable count’s right! Perhaps this is a ‘Beat-Mondo’?

Dave Brubeck’s poems
are not as good as his jazz.
A Blue Mondo a la Turk?

That’s trying to get
quartets into a pint pot –
concentrate on the jazz Dave!

Just to clarify, ‘Blue Rondo a la Turk’ was on the B-side of Brubeck’s ‘Take Five’

HI Mike.  When I first read this, I hadn't seen Oonah's challenge, so I must admit I was a bit confused!  I googled 'Mondo' and found the exact reference which Oonah has in her post.  Now it is all perfectly clear.  I love the play on words in the title and throughout.  A great take on the challenge - why not be music-related and amusing!?

Thanks Joanie. I thought I might have to put a second clarification to explain what a ‘B’ side was in these days of virtual music!!

Brubeck... Ah jazz is totally lost on me, Mike. I'm glad you explained. I am sure any jazz fan would pick up the references. You may have invented the Beat Mondo and it's clever. laugh

Thank you Oonah. I’m not a great jazz fan myself but used to listen to the Dave Brubeck Quartet when I was a teenager and we had all just discovered black coffee!!

I never discovered black coffee either, Mike. I was listening to These you have loved and drinking tea. Oh dear, I was never what you'd call 'hip' wink
