blank pages
fill my mind
with fingers
pointing
blaming the artless
for lack
of imagnation

I wait
desperate
for my muse
to appear

she is elusive
darts behind walls
and shadows
to stare
face to face
smiling as she
becomes ether

I long to leave myself
in tattood ink
but my words
hide
circling my soul
until every feeling
is a whisper

Is this really a poem about writer's block, Jo? You might - or might not! - be interested in having a look at "Sea breeze" by the French poet, Stephane Mallarmé, in which he refers, much as you do in your first stanza here, to '... the void of paper that whiteness defends'. That's a translation of a phrase that was written originally in French, of course, but it is accurate.
(imagnation = imagination; tattood = tattooed but I know what you mean obviously!)

Totally about writers block, Michael.  It's not that I don't want to join in as that I've stared so much at a blank piece of of paper it makes me feel redundant.  Hoping this will pass! X

To be abandoned by the muse - something I often struggle with, and your poem sums up those feelings well:

I long to leave myself
in tattood ink
but my words
hide

An excellent poem for this challenge!

Jo that's a lovely poem. The same 4 lines struck me as Bill.
