Poet 4

words are shuffled
jokers taken from the pack
tongue touching the deal,

my hand full of folds
the pot of poetry grows fat
the reader raking it in,

communion chips
the minds nervous gamble spread
opened up inside,

secret shows of tricks
diamond dust sprinkled in the blood
love rummaged wild,

my jack the bust fool
a naked running braggart
pen swinging hard.

John,

What a brilliantly strong opening: "words are shuffled / jokers taken from the pack." Great image for the emotional gamble that is writing.

Wonderful,

Smith

Liked 'love rummaged wild' - think it's the verb there that lifts the phrase.

Very good flow of words.
Like a game of cribbage or just blackjack.
Life and poetry are like a game of cards we shuffle and wait to see our hand.
Could be said about passion as well.
Well done John. XX Alice
