Dear Son

I will never forget the second I saw you
freshly born
eyes wide
taking everything in - even then

Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine you so perfect
so contented
so at ease with me

Never did I dream I would be able to take care of you
watch you sleep
listen to you breathing

Never did my life have more meaning, I wake in excitment
yet I have no career
I have no money and no job

Never have I laughed and cried as much as I do now
so emotional
so moving

Never have I devoted my time so selflessly
always tired
yet still remain patient (with you)

Never have I loved your father more
although we are rarely alone
or intimate

Never did I believe something could change my life so much
change my perspective
change my friendships

Never have I loved another as much as I love you sweetheart
I thank god for you
I adore you.

A really beautiful poem. It captures well the excitment and uncertainty of motherhood.

Thank you. How old is he? I just wondered, because I just uploaded 'Gaining a daughter' a couple of days ago. I have been there, done that, as they say, and the love never ends.

I understand my parents'love for me all the more as I love my own children.

This has the simple components of emotions placed with such natural skill ,that then turns it into beauty. It has a heart beat rhythm that gives it a safe secure feeling from where its comming from ,probably you!Nice poem and welcome to ww.

So beautiful. It captures those moments that i remember well..... especially how everything changes, but in the best possible way. It certainly captures the tenderness of a mothers love.

Beautiful,

E.

I think the simpicity of this piece is what makes it shine so brightly ... that and the memories it evokes of when my own children were babies.
It instigated the pondering of sweet memories, brought time dusty images fresh to my mind and left me with a smile to on my face.

Thank you :)
