One day I faced up to me,
you came to say "look at you".
you were placed to realize my dreams.
At my age I have the inner and material tools.
To allow me to grow on well founded nutrients.

How you turn that fuzz in my mind, into fine knitwear.
How you compare nobody knows,
I don`t know nobody,so thanks for the buzz.
To feel your natural royal jelly.
Like a prayer, I write to you on my birthday.

That sharing is needed, get away from jealousy.
Stamp it out ,away from envy, greed to be free.
What can I do when the path has been well placed you the pebble paver;fine mica stone.
Causing calm, not harm...

I`ll try not to hurt,
useless,futile,inert.
I`m changing my ways,more measured,not the exuberant,geezer,hapless,crowd,please.

Forgiveness comes with change.
I`ll try not to block the conversion
I may feel the range of upset and pain.
The light is so bright now,
The hurt only human realisation will not sustain!

Lets be spiritual,even profane!
Together, separately,for positive gain.
I am broadly spiritual,that is true,for that don`t ,
make me feel blue.
But for you ;things would`t be true.

Lawrenco - Happy Birthday! And what a kind blurb before this poem...

I admit I cannot make total literal sense of it but that does not bother me. What matters to me is that it seems a very brave poem i.e. :

'One day I faced up to me'
'I'm changing my ways...'

and I am particularly struck by 'The light is so bright now'. Yes, some 'broadly' religious tones here. It also seems a very personal poem...

A sort of 'A Life in Retrospect' I felt (?) - and warmth and love for someone/ something (verse 2) and humour and resilience shine through...

Write on, Miffle ;-)

I supose birthdays can be slight boozy affair and it`s in that vain I place it thanks Nichola. Happy Non-Birthday.Its my slice of cake to you.Perhaps literal sense isn`t always important.

<Added>

Yes it is about a personal journey. It`s not about one particular person, but kind good people ,the Royal jelly well yes something special that is difficult to convey.
That I don`t fully understand like a fusion of inheritance by people known and unknown...and Mica nicked from June Jordan, thanks darling!

Lawrenco, yep, I think birthdays are mostly boozy affairs (for adults that is!) - and that is just fine! Yep, noticed the Mica reference - well, I guess it is your birthday so think, you'll get away with it ;-) Miffle

A brave piece Patrick, strong, honest and pure. Like Miffle, it doesn't matter whether the reader cannot understand completely the literal sense of it but the overflowing heartfelt sentiment is conveyed very clearly.

Good piece.

Patrick

An open, egalitarian, touching lyric of one's journey, and the people we meet on the highways of our life. Keep on thinking, feeling, expressing and writing.

Happy birthday Brother.

Patrick/Lawrenco, a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY! It feels from the poem as if you've arrived at a good place, one with self-knowledge and acceptance, of contentment yet with a realization of the potential to grow and go on to greater fulfilment. I applaud you.

All the best, Nell.

Great one Patrick,
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I LIKED IT FULL STOP.

It is a good poem.
Never ask age as i am still 21 with a 35 year old son.

Words flowed well and full of meaning i know.
Never feel your age or look it.
xx Alice

Hello... Happy birthday for the 25th!!
The poem is interesting and a bit confusing for me... but the second time that I looked at it, it reminded me of something else... and I read it a different way (funny how with things like this you sort of read with your own voice... if you know what I mean, so I read it in a different voice) and it worked... and I really enjoyed it... thankyou for the non-birthday gift.

They flurried in .Miffle was first with her considered verve.
Heartfelt ,my Birthday encores with a lunchtime curry.
Hits the mark not a raw nerve ,as I join Alices,"21 club".
Fearless the wonder egalitarian brother!
The walrus,the sentiment convener.
Long johns still on, a note from down under.
Nell placed her windswept spell.
Emma saw in it, her own fable to tell.
Thankyou all for adding to the tale!
Please have a slice of metaphysical-cake,make no mistake ,you have helped, to make, another day great!
