 Rain camelightning same
 1 2 3

 4 Thunder
 ok.

 Still the rain came
 a storm
 flooding
 pull plugs out.

 Crash...
 trees going,
 who cares
 you're not going.

 Lightning
 2 3......thunder
 two miles away
 what next?

 lightning,
 1..crash,bang
 it's here,
 some to the cellars

 Trees topped,
 roads blocked,
 no electricity
 all blanked.

 Just a night
 of a storm
 all nothing
 just a storm.

bjlangley at 15:11 on 27 April 2004 Report this post | | I sleep through storms. I was on holiday with a bunch of friends once, in a tiny chalet, there was a big storm, the whole place rocked, and I just kept on snoring.
I love the counting in this, because it's something we all do. There seems to be a panic about it too, and in the last line when you write "just a storm" I don't believe it. I think it's as if you're trying to tell yourself it's just a storm, nothing to worry about - and that's why I like it.

 All the best,

 Ben

joanie at 15:44 on 27 April 2004 Report this post | | Alice, this made me think of storms when I was a child - my Dad used to take me to the window to watch so that they were exciting rather than frightening. Counting helps; I liked the counting at the beginning and picked up later. Such devastation, then after it has all died down, nothing at all - it was nothing. I thought of 'full of sound and fury, signifying nothing' - I don't whether that's what you thought too? I liked it.

Bee at 15:50 on 27 April 2004 Report this post | | Alice, I really enjoyed this - egged on my memory of storms in Durban...afternoon storms after a hot humid day. I used to be petrified of them, and now being a way I miss them - the fear of using a phone, your tv going off, darkness and scurrying for candles. Well done, this is great!
