Rezin P.Bowie did invent a knife
two edged point blade and sheath
but erroncously attributed to brother James,
who went on to give the knife its name.

He wanted to make the blade better
so stainless steel it was made
twas brought to Sheffield,England,
Where George Wostenholm made with pride.

The knife was skilled
so took a while
nothing to outscore it
James was proud of such a blade
all the time he wore it.

To the Alamo he did fight
for what he did believe
San Antonio a massacre
Texans truly beat.

On March 8th year 1836
They fought to the bitter end,
legend said
James was dead.

Still on his body lay the knife
still strapped to him in death,
The sun shone on the brightness
of a blade,alegend.
Amen

Hi Rg

well it has a solid traditional quality to it which is also nice - like relating something from camelot, or a knights tale, or something..

Hi Alice, this seems unusual for you - a surprise. The story seems to have touched you deeply, and that comes across in the poem.

Nell.

Thank you all.

Yes coming from Sheffield we are proud of the Bowie knife.
Just as every Royal household in the world have sheffield cutlery.

Dying trade now,
xx Al
