Crimes of passion

What price can we place on a crime of passion?
The hunger of life abused in this fashion,
What cost to count on innocence stole
A sad Bi-product of fear and control.
To nurture and love is a gift we all share,
As to, hate and destroy also lies there.
How empty the hand that that only brings grief,
with uncontrolled anger, devoid of belief.
To quantify love as rage and regret
Is to spend with a smile and laugh at the debt.
Beat and to burn are all part of the show,
With an audience of one with nowhere to go.
As anger climbs to rage and then onto hate
The finale is rancid as the curtain falls late.
Soft muffled cries fall on justified ears
with a lost mother trying to stifle the tears.
Stop the cry and try to save the child
From a father who ranting, drunk and wild
Just another statistic, of another dark place
A billboard, an advert, someone else’ child’ face

This is tender and moving. The build up is wonderfully haunting as the narrative moves from the general issue of crimes of passion to the terryfing finale.

Not a lot I can say after our conversation, except 'spot on'.
