Like Our Love

It’s the same sky
above me now
as when I first
met you by the fountain;
saw your sparkling eyes.
It’s greyer now,
with thicker clouds.
Stormy - like our love.
Yes, it’s the same sky -
but not the same me.

It’s the same tree
you sit beneath
as when you first
told me you love me;
asked me to marry you.
It’s taller now,
and bears no fruit.
Sterile - like our love.
Yes, it’s the same tree -
but not the same you.

Oh Kathleen,

This started off so beautifully and then became so sad!

And with such great images!

It’s taller now,/and bears no fruit./Sterile - like our love. Sad - but lovely.

Bluesy, I think, slow and remoresful.

Wonderful stuff

Kathleen

the story of so many lives sadly, not sure I see it as a blues and perhaps the phrasiology would need some slight amendment to make it work as a lyric but the words are beautiful none the less

take care my firend

Billie Holliday, if only, what a great jazz and blues singer she was. thanks all for the morale boost, song writing is new to me so every little crumb is savoured.

It's so 'simple' and yet intricate, like the best lyrics, I think. Very 'singable' and full of the 'exquisite sadness' that's (in my opinion)a vital part of our humanity.

well done

All the best

Pete
