Like Our Love
It’s the same sky
above me now
as when I first
met you by the fountain;
saw your sparkling eyes.
It’s greyer now,
with thicker clouds.
Stormy - like our love.
Yes, it’s the same sky -
but not the same me.
It’s the same tree
you sit beneath
as when you first
told me you love me;
asked me to marry you.
It’s taller now,
and bears no fruit.
Sterile - like our love.
Yes, it’s the same tree -
but not the same you.
It’s the same sky
above me now
as when I first
met you by the fountain;
saw your sparkling eyes.
It’s greyer now,
with thicker clouds.
Stormy - like our love.
Yes, it’s the same sky -
but not the same me.
It’s the same tree
you sit beneath
as when you first
told me you love me;
asked me to marry you.
It’s taller now,
and bears no fruit.
Sterile - like our love.
Yes, it’s the same tree -
but not the same you.
