Waiting at arrivals

Summary: ...because I love meeting someone at the airport!

This voice detached, aloof
knows nothing of my fluttering heart
but at this moment
holds its strings.

My ears are straining
for each drop of information,
to filter out unwanted
unintelligible things

while the disembodied
voice: "... British Airways announce the arrival..."
never knows the sheer
exhilaration which it brings.

Who would have thought, that with all those movie stars, singers and radio presenters, that the voice that has perhaps made the most hearts flutter, is employed by BAA at an airport? Sweet.
