A photograph and a missing ring
Bring demons laughing behind their hands
Into my island paradise

A reversal of fortunes
Turning reality in on itself
Like a crumpled piece of paper
Cast aside once words have ceased
To stem the flow of blood from my veins
Into your kiss

A shadow I chased, solidified
Beckoning me onwards
And averting my eyes from the abyss
Until at the last I stumble forwards
Feeling only comfort in nothingness

Andy, loved the image of demons laughing behind their hands. Interesting , but I couldn't work out what was going on - why the blood? Fascinated to know ...I'll be back..

Andy - there's an intense fear running through this piece - to me it speaks of a threat to your happiness, seemingly from an external source...but perhaps not?! You seem, in your mind's eye, to be walking towards your downfall with eyes wide open and knowing that there will be no way back.

Well crafted piece which leaves the reader with many question marks.

Certainly fear is the theme of this piece - and irrational fear as the title might indicate. Perhaps some of the references are too personal to make sense to anyone but myself, but I hope I got the feeling across, if not the specifics.

Thank you both for your comments :)
