Thank God The Grave Is Sound Proof

Hair even grows long after death
tasteless red finger nails lengthen
nervous atheists grinning for years
old clothes stay in fashion at least
until resurrection's summer shows.

Watches insist on time
diaries demand the days
flesh lined coffins vibrate
mental cases full of chalk.

Turning under a new leaf
spinning in the chamber,
a blank pretence of belief
is loaded, aimed & shot.

Thank God the grave
is made sound proof
even if the soul is not.

Reading this sent a chill down my spine, a very good poem although rather scary to me. Makes me think of stories by Poe and all those gothic horror films of the 1950's like the Pit and the Pendulum. a nice creepy tale for a winter's night.
