Sebastian the snake is far too friendly
and makes us laugh
why!! who could be afraid of a snake like that?
far too comic for words
but then again,
our snake is no enemy
our snake will never bite, but I hold on to you

just in case

you never know...
it might

....in my naivity I am hazarding a guess that this is a draught excluder...but I have led a sheltered life :)
but I like the last few thoughts anyway !

If this snake were at the door
Excluding draughts upon the floor
Indeed that well might be the score
But Seb was alive not dead, I’m sure
So now, you’ll have to try once more!

Is this a trouser snake by any chance, thought they were all called Percy - or is it just my dirty mind? lol. Liked it though - the poem that is.

Kathleen, ooooo! trust you!
trouser legs he had two
did Sebastian,
and two eyes not one!
So off the list that’s gone,
phew!

The answer…

One night, while dancing in Biodanza in a group of three, we were each in turn required to take upon the role of the male archetype, in the persona of the snake.

My dancing partner (who happened to be female) and I had each managed to adopt a reasonably successful persona in turn. However, when it was Sebastian’s turn to become the snake, he was just far too nice and kept smiling and giggling!

Just a simple tale really! I thought I better reveal all before any more ‘snakes’ were suggested!

I saw this as potentially within a children's book, as I imagined it being illustrated by a very friendly looking snake... a big fat green one, with a huge smile from ear to ear! (do snakes have ears?)

The parent reading out aloud to the child, would at the end, then be able to grab hold on to the child, and give him or her a little hug.
