i really am in love with you
but i don't think i should be
i want to block you behind a wall
and stop you breaking through
to touch me

i watch your eyes as they open
and your smile begins to form
i know i shouldn't
i want to stop my heart
and smash what you may choose to break
with just some simple words

the one i am with is not the one i want
or need, its you
but you don't even know
i'm hiding from you
building a den to protect the delicate me

so what would happen i tell you so
i break what i have and what we may be
but if not i wonder why
and what it may have been
should it be this way if it hurts me so

could this feeling snap my ribs
if i choose goodness and keep it in
could it snap my soul
if i choose the unknown and let it be

I like this. It possesses clarity and a certain rawness and says it the way it is - how vulnerable one becomes when falling in love and how it can be so all-consuming.

Look forward to reading more.

A fine piece. Hoping to read more and see you in one of the poetry groups.
