THE MAGIC OF INDIA

Virgin steps on Indian soil,
Magical awareness of Eastern dreams,
Colourful inspiration impacts on my senses,
Realisation of cultural beings

Intense heat of the Indian summer,
Magnificent dawns over beaches and fields,
Aroma of spices, so strong and tempting,
A diverse land of vision and charm

Relaxing spells under hot rays,
As dancing waves move the Arabian Sea,
Drowning in the peace of the moment,
A tranquil paradise on mother earth

Vibrant sellers spirited and determined,
Their voices travel over the sands where I lie,
Admiration for their display of fortitude,
Their characters inspire and amuse my mind

Ayurvedic heaven in his hands,
My ecstasy grows as I absorb the oils,
Exotic fragrance draws my body and soul,
Serenity exists in the sensation of his touch

In awe of retreating elephants in the wonder of nature,
Swallowed by jungle and surrounding plantations,
Primitive abode provoking my thoughts,
Humble, yet proud, a sense of achievement and worth

A seventh wonder of the modern world,
It rocked my emotions with its beauty and significance,
Authentic fairytale of love and tragedy,
Glistening white vision imprinted in my mind

Sacred cows roam contrasting bustling roads,
Visions fading in the dust from the storm,
The heat of the city, noise and pollution,
Rickshaws overloaded, destined for homes

Overwhelmed by sadness while preparing to depart,
Yet inspired by this mystical land,
I feel change and aspiration grow within me,
To return is my dream, my hope, my providence

Hi Lisa, I have friends who are about to go off to India for a holiday soon - they have fallen in love with India. I shall send this poem to them. You have conveyed a special mystical quality which makes the reader want to experience it. I love
'Drowning in the peace of the moment'.
The last two lines are filled with hope.
Lovely.

A thousand welcomes. Sorry that Group II was full up. Easier on the eye than your previous.
This is another fine piece, full of promise. Keep up the good work.
