In kindred souled companionship
woman and dog delighted
each affording the other
occasion to imbibe nature.
The dog gambolling, playful in shimmering shallows
a wet lovesome bundle of blonde.
Black shiny nose twitching, gathering scents
brown soulful eyes darting back and forth,
tail held high, wagging greetings
to the blue sun kissed sky.
Emerald winged dragonflies hover,
hither and thither at the waters edge
their stunning colours illuminated by
sun beams reflected.
A heron, majestic, stands proud
taking flight on grand span wings of freedom,
soaring fields and trees to sea.
Passing river to wood she notes
leaf laden branches fragmenting shafts of sunlight,
squirrels scamper in the canopy
birds chorus the joy of warm earth.
In kindred souled companionship
woman and dog delighted.

I enjoyed this so much, and loved the lines "A heron, majestic, stands proud
taking flight on grand span wings of freedom," I also love the way the beginning and end are repeated, coming to a full circle, rather like the circle of nature throughout the year.

Pene , this gives a very joyful feel, and those of us who have dogs will relate to how freeing it is to walk with a happy companion!
"Passing river to wood she notes
leaf laden branches fragmenting shafts of sunlight...... " that is very evocative..

it has quite a pace this poem!
