Word of Mouth, Live Literature, 18 Feb

   18 February 2011 7pm
Tickets: Free

Antenna cafe-restaurant
9a Beck Street, NG1 1EQ

On 18 February Sophie Woolley, a writer and performer of her own one-woman plays and stand up, will be featuring at Word of Mouth, Nottingham Writers' Studio's quarterly live literature night, alongside a posse of the city's writers, including Maria Allen, Deborah Debris Stevenson, Pippa Hennessy, Paula Rawsthorne, and Michelle 'Mother' Hubbard.

Sophie's sharp, satirical plays are based around acutely observed characters with weaknesses we can all identify with. When to Run, which toured the country in 2006–2008 and sold out at the South Bank, the Soho Theatre, and Manchester's Royal Exchange, was driven by a dizzying energy as she leapt from one role to another, playing stalked teenager, lovelorn dog walker, and high-flying exec.

More recently she starred in Channel 4's drama series Cast Offs (2009), her fast-paced comedy about a fight in a kebab shop, Fight Face, was produced at the Lyric Hammersmith (2008), and her radio play Carbon Cleansing was broadcast on Radio 4 (2010).You can see some of her recent stand up and spoof character sketches on her website: www.sophiewoolley.com

Word of Mouth takes place in the relaxed and intimate setting of the Antenna cafe-restuarant, starting at 7pm, and entrance is free. Doors open at 6pm, and dinner is available until 7pm in the restaurant.
