At the beginning of the year I made some writing resolutions, one of them being to join a writers' group of some kind (online or in the flesh, or both). So, I'm very excited to have actually done it.

Having had nothing published and only one story submitted (for a competition) I feel like a baby in this wonderful world. But nothing can take away the thrill of those words flowing.

Having wandered round this site a while I feel excited, motivated, inspired.

Welcome, Kathryn!

I'm a relative newbie here myself, having not posted for ages, but it's a wonderfully friendly environment and the perfect place for writerly support.

I just wanted to congratulate you on taking that big first step. It's frightening how many people I meet who say 'oh yes, I always meant to write a novel when I had the time' - but how few who've actually gone beyond talking and taken serious steps towards doing it. In submitting even one story, you've already put yourself in that second group.

As a Part Member, Kathryn, you can join one group and upload one piece of work. I see on your profile you're writing for children and there is a very active Childrens Group if you'd like to pop in there.

If you decide to become a full member, and are worried that your output is starting to slip, there is the Fast First Draft group where you can post your daily word count.

I'm with you there...I too made some writerly resolutions this year and mine were to find some writerly friends (which I have through joining this site) and also to get some work out there (which I have by submitting to a comp in Jan) so we're in the same boat!

The guys on here are just amazing and have kept me going through my current writerly lull and are always giving some useful tips, guidance and sound advice so you've picked a good community to join!
