Just joined on a month's trial . I'm a newish sort of writer, not quite sure which group to join. I'm based in the Highlands of Scotland, but I'm a member of a couple of US-based writers' sites also.

I tend to write fantasy, but strongly character-driven, and with romantic elements - any thoughts as to which group would be best for me to join, as I can only pick one at this stage?

Hi, Astrea, and welcome to WriteWords

As a part member you can join one group and upload one piece of work. We have a Fantasy Group, but it's not one of the more active groups on the Site, so you might prefer to join something like the Beginners Writers Group - it's the group which most new members join while they're getting their bearings. And Group members have a wide range of writing abilities - it's not simply for people just starting out in writing.


If you need any help, just give us a shout.

I'm in flash 1 but I'm busy & only manage to do the occasional short short.

Hello, where are you? I'm in the big city (well, bigger than it used to be )

I know what you mean, I'm working full-time, trying to get some short stories out there in my spare time (aye, right!) as well as re-drafting 27 chapters of my first attempt at a novel.

The speed I write at, I'm reckoning on finishing some time this decade

I'm in Wester Ross & don't seem to have much time at the moment having a croft 7 building a house but it's a good place on here - & I try & keep my hand in.

Good for you with the novel - I wish I could do that.

Hi, im from Glasgow, just found this forum and decided to join. Its quite exciting to talk to others with the same interest! My interest lies mainly in writing for young children.

I lived in Glasgow for a while when I was little, and went to Glasgow uni. Really enjoyed it, and have some great memories of my time there
