Doctor Who  CarolineSG at 21:12 on 26 December 2009

Did anyone watch it? I actually shrieked with excitement at the end.

Re: Doctor Who  Jem at 23:08 on 26 December 2009

Same! And then Hamlet!

Re: Doctor Who  NMott at 01:03 on 27 December 2009

Yes, it was fun. Looking forward to the next episode.

Very very jealous.
Living in America now I don't get it anymore. The BBC iPlayer is only available in the UK. If you know of any way I could get to see it I would be very happy! I'm sure the DVDs will be out eventually but I'm not sure I can wait that long! We used to have the technology of taping stuff off the telly.
Christmas just wasn't the same without the Dr. Who special!

And did anyone hear David Tennant on Desert Island Discs yesterday morning? A man whose luxury is a complete box set of The West Wing is even more of a god to me than before - and who thinks a Billy Bragg lyric is the finest lyric in the English language. And he was so NICE! I am so in love.

Me too, Rosy. He was just lovely, wasn't he? I didn't know he was a big lefty until yesterday and love him even more than I did before now.

Jenzarina, I really sympathise
Wish I could somehow beam it into your living room!

Re: Doctor Who  Jem at 09:38 on 28 December 2009

Missed the DIDiscs but willl catch it Friday. My daughter, the music buff, has fallen out of love with him however, because of some of his dubious music choices, though I'll give you that he is redeemed by The West Wing.

Re: Doctor Who  RT104 at 18:31 on 28 December 2009

Oh dear, I loved all his music (as well as his politics and his general loveliness). Must be because he is old (though obviously not nearly as old as me). My daughters felt the same about his chosen tracks.

I thought it was ok but I just don't like John Sims as the Master. He overacts horribly and I wish they'd stuck a bit closer to the traditional Machiavellian Master. He was much more sinister!

Agree about the Master, Waxy. He was just bonkers instead of being sinisterly scarey and sexy, which he could have been.

I thought he was ok but as you say - not quite sinister enough?

We did like Hamlet

Re: Doctor Who  CarolineSG at 10:43 on 29 December 2009

I liked John Simm's performance, personally. But then he's another of my favourite actors so maybe my critical faculties weren't at their sharpest!

Re: Doctor Who  Jem at 10:46 on 29 December 2009

I love John SImm too, but I didn't like this performance.

Re: Doctor Who  Account Closed at 13:21 on 29 December 2009

Ditto. He's great in the Lakes, Life on Mars and Human Traffic, but I think Sims is miscast as the Master.

I agree he's all wrong for the Master.
